Former Georgia Tech and NFL Baltimore Ravens' running back, Prince "P.J." Daniels, Jr. takes time out to visit with C.J.'s 8U team. Prince is an author, motivational speaker, and expert in the areas of fitness, meditation, and holistic health. He is not your average former professional athlete turned author. He seeks to change the world one person at a time. His passion lies in teaching our youth mindfulness, increasing literacy, and empowering those around him with confidence, health and lifestyle changes. Prince's personal story is one of determination and commitment to excellence. He was a two-time all-conference tailback, the fourth-leading rusher in Georgia Tech football history, with 3,300 yards. A two-time Academic All-ACC selection, Daniels was selected for the 2006 Hula Bowl where he ran for a still existing NCAA bowl game record of 311 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was drafted by the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens in 2006 and his career ended as a result of injuries in 2009. Having never imagined his life without football, he used meditation to focus and devise a new strategy for his future. Through dreams, the I’mAgine book series manifested and Prince began writing his first book entitled, “Danny Yukon and the Secrets of the Amazing Lamp” – the story of a young boy who overcomes the loss of his father with the help of his uncle who teaches him meditation. Drawing from Prince’s own experiences, he aspires to encourage young people all over the world to practice mindfulness as a means for confronting their fears, pursuing their dreams, and enhancing their overall well-being. On today, our family pitched in to show our friends how much we love them while dad is in the hospital. We made a dinner of red beans and rice with sausage and onions, and a springy dirt cups for dessert for mom and the kids (Brandon, Noah, Lauryn, Thomas, John Paul, Allan Michael, Courtney and Chloe). Our friend Angie Ravenel from Project Warm Hands teamed up with us and served our friends with baked chicken, dinner rolls and drinks. CJ thought it would be nice to bring everyone a blanket for an extra dose of comfort during this difficult time. Comfort food and comfy blankets! Please keep the Gadsons in your prayers!
It's been cold in Charleston this month so CJ teamed up with Denise Cromwell of YWCA's Project Street Outreach to provide some relief to some of our homeless neighbors.
For the second year, CJ delivers blankets to children in MUSC Children's Hospital. Nothing makes him happier than to know that he is responsible for putting a smile on the faces of sick children. He loves visiting the Atrium.
In honor of his deceased little sister, Karsen Angelica, CJ held a special collection for crocheted and other handmade blankets. Most blankets donated by the Facebook group, The Mt. Pleasant Mommy Exchange were donated to families with babies in ICU rooming at the Ronald McDonald House in Charleston.
